A Call to Prayer: Week Eleven.

Updated: Feb 23, 2021

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. - Psalm 139:13-14
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. - 1 John 3:1
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. - Ephesians 2:10

Time of Devotion.

We are heading into the last week of the season. For our seniors, this will be their last game. These young men have played football for most of their lives. It has been an important part of helping shape who they are today and what they will become in the coming years. I love how football can teach so many life lessons. In many ways this is an end of an era in their lives, but even more this is a new beginning for them. Each of the verses above speak of who we are in Christ. Fully known, fully loved and created to do great things for HIM!

Call to Prayer.

Let’s pray for our seniors this week that they truly enjoy each moment of preparation, working with their teammates and doing their very best in their final outing. Even more, let’s pray that they truly comprehend who they are in Christ. Their identity is not defined by being a football player, but it is in being a child of God. These young men can and will do great things for God’s kingdom.

Dear Lord, thank you for each of these young men. Thank you for their hard work and diligence. We pray especially for our seniors as they transition from being football players into other ventures. Use them to do great things for you. Above all, help them to comprehend the great love you have lavished on them, that they should be called children of God! Amen
