“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Time of Devotion.
We’re at that point in the school year and the football season when it can get hard. Class assignments come crashing in like waves one after the other and players’ bodies are growing tired from the physical demands of practices and intense games. And lack of sleep has a cumulative effect. This is when our guys must dig deep to get it all done. Fortunately, as believers we don’t have to rely on our own strength. We have access to the endless supply of power of the Creator of the universe. I love that this truth from the book of Isaiah doesn’t promise us just enough to get by, instead God promises that when we have put our hope in Him, He is the one who enables us to soar, run and walk!
Call to Prayer.
Let’s join together in praying that our players won’t try to press on or gut it out in their own strength, but that they will remember whose they are and the great power that is available to them! Let’s pray for the Holy Spirit to give them wisdom and rest; inspire good time management and a sense of peace. Let’s pray that He will renew them so they will be healthy and strong in body, mind and spirt!
Lord Jesus, You are Emmanuel, God with us. We are grateful for your presence in our lives and in the lives of our sons who are miles away from us. Will you remind them of your great power and love for them? Will you, by the power of your Holy Spirit, help them remember that you are an ever-present help to them. We pray they resist the lie to continue in their own strength and instead allow you to fill them with your power and your peace. Please keep them healthy and strong. Draw them near to yourself and to one another. Renew their strength and enable them to soar on and off the field as they live out their trust in you. We praise you and thank you, in Jesus Name. Amen.
