The following is reposted from the Taylor University Football web page.

FINDLAY, Ohio – The Mid-States Football Association announced its weekly awards on Monday, tabbing Austin Gunderson as the MSFA Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week.

Gunderson handled all phases of the kicking game for Taylor during a 50-13 blowout of Trinity International on Saturday. The senior went a perfect four-of-four in point-after attempts and averaged 52.7 yards per kickoff but did his best in the punting game, pinning TIU inside its own 20-yard line on three-of-five punts.

Gunderson is off to a fine start in 2018 and currently rates No. 25 in the NAIA with two made field goals and is tied for No. 1 with a perfect conversion rate over field goals and 10 point-after attempts. The Coconut Creek, Florida native also rates No. 33 in total scoring (16) and has pinned the opposition inside its own 20-yard line on six-of-18 punts.

The honor is the first for Gunderson this season and the fourth of his four-year career.

Gunderson and the Trojans (2-1) are set to return to action on September 29, when they host No. 20 Saint Xavier in a 6:00 pm start inside Turner Stadium.
