We must live in the Holy Spirit and follow after him. So may we never be arrogant, or look down on another, for each of us is an original. We must forsake all jealousy that diminishes the value of others.
Galatians 5:25-26
The most effective and successful teams are those who play with confidence AND respect their opponents for their unique abilities. The most effective and successful teammates are those who are able to play with great confidence AND value the others on the team for their unique contributions. Confidence comes from true identity in Christ. Knowing the reality of an all-powerful and all-knowing Creator who knows and loves all of His creation should instill great confidence. Respect comes from the same source as we see others for who they truly are--created beings made in the image of the creator with unique talents and abilities to contribute to the kingdom.
Every teammate on game day is an original who is uniquely designed by God to contribute to the team in special ways. Dismissing any teammate based on any measure (position, age, experience, speed, strength or playing time…….) ultimately hurts the team. Every player possesses special uniquenesses from God intended to contribute to the team around him. God has placed each individual onto this team for a reason. God knows those reasons. Can you take the time to search for those qualities and value every teammate for the sake of the team? Ask God to open your eyes to His intentions when he assembled the players on this team. You might be surprised at what the team can gain when you forsake all jealousy and value all the originals around you.
